Photography is so much more than getting the perfect shot. It’s getting to know each and every senior, making their personalities shine, documenting an important milestone, and best of all, celebrating female beauty.
What inspired me to become a photographer back in 2011? I don’t have many photos from my childhood, so I made it my mission as a mom to document my family’s life in pictures.
I never know if all of my senior sessions for the year are going to be rain-free. Every once in a while, we have that one senior where it rains, and rains, and rains. Courtney was that senior. Courtney’s Caston high school senior pictures were taken this summer. We started the session in the studio. During hair and makeup it poured. Actually down poured is more like it. I didn’t think it was going to let up. Luckily, she brought her prom dress and wanted an indoor glam portion, so we did some studio glam first! Courtney had a beautiful, black, beaded dress with a gorgeous, red lip color, big, beautiful curls. I love big curls.
Then it stopped finally raining. The sun came out, and we shot at one of my favorite locations, which is the hospital trail in Rochester. Unfortunately, because of the rain and the humidity, we lost those big gorgeous curls, so our hair stylist, who was on location with us because Courtney had booked a luxe session, put the hair up, and Courtney rocked a half-up and half-down look for the rest of her shoot. By that point, we also changed up her lip color with a soft pink, which complimented her makeup and her skin, beautifully.
Courtney’s third location was shot in a urban location with her favorite, flannel shirt in an urban setting, which was downtown in the alley. I love the downtown brick that Rochester has, and whenever I have the perfect wardrobe that will go along with it, I don’t miss an opportunity to shoot there. We shot in the doorway, which is also one of my favorite pictures from her senior session. We shot in a dark stairwell, which always has beautiful defuse light. Which I am obsessed with! Courtney wore a dark blue dress in the stairwell. I chose to also shoot her letterman jacket in that urban setting.
We ended Courtney’s Caston high school senior pictures in a gorgeous flower field, around sunset. You can see, the gorgeous sun setting behind her, and Courtney’s personality really shined at this point of the session.
