Getting to shoot on the beautiful Lake Michigan never gets old! The beautiful of Lake Michigan always takes my breath away. We are so lucky to live to such a beautiful lake.

Maddy and Kenna were game to have one last ride on Lake Michigan in September. Our warm days are very limited but I knew I need some beach images for a big annocement that was going to be happening early 2022 so made our was to Lake Michigan. The girls were rocks stars because it was little cold on the lake. If it wasn’t so windy it wouldn’t have been so cold. BUT if you live in Indiana you know that we can’t complain that time of year. Because the real cold weather will be coming soon enough and we will be missing the temperature we had that day.

I wanted the styling to be beach simple. I wanted the jewelry to be natural stones with a bohemian feel. Kudos to Amazon bringing it for the simple white bathing suits!

When photographing teens in bathing suits I have a few rules. The big rule is not booty shots. If I accidentally shoot some, I will provide those images to my teen. Because let’s be real, If not today someday they will be happy to have those shots for themselves. While I normally wouldn’t shoot belly shots like I did with Maddy. I know Maddy is really in fitness so I wanted her to have those for herself. Kenna is athletic but more on the modest side. So for her images I went in a different direction. Both of their set of images fit their own unique personalities. It’s so important to take that time and get to know your subject so you can be sure to capture their authentic self. I have had the pleasure of photographing Kenna since she was born since she is my oldest child. Maddy I have photographed for the last 2 years so I have build that relationship with them and know how to get their real personalities to come through.

This was such a fun day. My youngest was also there that day running around! She wasn’t the only one who left soaking wet.
