It’s already March and i’m finally posting the Best of 2018 Senior Pictures that Katrina Jackson Photography photographed last year. Coming back from maternity leave I had just enough senior experiences last year to get my feet wet again. Senior season in Indiana tends to spans from June-October! This is by far the best time to shoot in our area. In the summer you get beautiful bright green foliage, and blooming flowers everywhere. Fall the colors start to change and takes on a completely different scenery. The sunset during this time of the year are simply stunning! I live for shooting in the sun at sunset. I’m so looking forward to the weather breaking and getting back out there in my element!
First up was my favorite session of the year! While we were planning Makenzie Senior Experience I knew before hand what her outfits looked like but I don’t believe I saw her bike in person until the day of the photoshoot. I absolutely love the colors with the bike. From all the green crazy grass, her yellow dress, and that pop of baby blue from her bike. It’s pure perfection. Her hat simply polishes off the image. As photographers we tend to have our own photographer bucket list and during that photoshoot I was able to cross off photograph a cool bike off my photography bucket list.
This last set I really don’t even need to explain. They speak for themselves, I think!
The light, The gorgeous sunset, and that beautiful girl!
Rachael Senior Experience was a close second for my best of pictures of 2018. Rachael was on my Senior team so we got to know each other months prior to her senior experience which can be a reason why her personality comes through so naturally. I have loved getting to know Rachael. I love her style! Like for real, when she showed me her wardrobe at the fashion consult I was even more pumped to take her senior pictures. See for yourself.
As you know it’s not a KJP Senior experience without a flower field somewhere! This is one of my favorite fields or should I say weed patches! It doesn’t disappoint.
Last location wouldn’t be complete without a little sun action. I live for the summer sunsets. Rachael is so beautiful and I do believe her senior experience allowed her beauty to really show through.
Next up is Lauren! Lauren booked our lite senior session. What I love about her lite senior session is that even though she had only 2 locations to choose from. Her senior pictures has a lot of variety. This was achieved because prior to her lite senior session she was able to send me wardrobe selection via email. Once we had the wardrobe picked out and saw the direction her wardrobe was going. Lauren choose to do a nature and urban locations that would best suite her fashion style and give her the most variety possible.
Tip #1: Maximize Your Location
Pick a photographer that is able to do just that! The image above and below was taken at the same location and was chosen specifically so I could give her the most from her lite session. The scenery looks completely different and was literally only a few feet from each other.
Urban locations are my jam! I have hand picked some of the best urban locations that have the BEST light. Light in my book trumps EVERYTHING.
Taking it back to Tip #1: The top image and bottom image is shot at the same location!
See how just changing the direction completely changed her pictures!
Next up HANNAH! I just love Hannah. When I think of how sweet she has been, I just get the biggest smile on my face. You will not hear me say this too often but Hannah senior experience was a morning photoshoot. I always recommend evening but Hannah schedule just wasn’t going to allow that so we did a morning. When I shoot mornings I always shoot it backwards because we are on the sun schedule not mine. LOL So we start in the fields.
I love this image of Hannah! It’s so fierce.
The last session we are going to feature today was a lite session. We shot a headshot for her at the beginning of her session and then shot on my family’s private property for the 1st location. I love scenery around our house during the fall. We ended in town at a downtown urban location to maximize the variety she would get for her senior pictures.
