Sarah !!! Whenever I think of Sarah or see a picture of her I instantly smile. Sarah is such a sweetheart, Free spirt kind of girl. She knows what she wants but also accommodating when things don’t go as planned. I will probably never forget her session. probably #1 reason I was 7 1/2 month pregnant and I knew she would be my last senior before I had my baby. The week prior Sarah session I was looking over her senior questioner. All my seniors fills this out so they can plan their senior session. One thing Sarah had was that she wanted to shoot at the dam. I have shot at the dam before its a little challenging just because your dealing with water. I knew that would be a for sure location of hers. Fast forward to several days before her photoshoot we got a lot of rain. LIKE ALOT OF RAIN. I didn’t go to the location prior because it was either a go or a flop. As we pulled up the dam looked high but not as high as it turned out to be. The current was another story. The dam turned out to be at least thigh high and the water was moving very fast. I decided it wasn’t worth the risk for us to get in so we went to a second water location. This one is usually low but since it’s all connected my gut told me it was also going to be a disaster. It wasn’t as bad at first but we were really limited on posing due to the current and because the rocks were really slippery for some reason. Lets also not forget I was 7 1/2 month pregnant. I had to be really careful and I actually wasn’t sure I would actually be able to get myself out water and up that hill in one piece. It was nuts. Sarah was a happy camper and didn’t let any of it bother her. Since all that took some of our precious time. I kicked it into high gear because I knew I wanted to end up in a beautiful location with flowers and a stunning sunset! I loved Sarah urban look. She owned every bit of that outfit and makeup. She truly rocked it. The last location was a gorgeous field with flowers. We arrived a little before sunset so had no time to play around. We had to get to work BUT Sarah’s outfit didn’t want to behave. We had to do some maintenance to make sure we didn’t have a Janet Jackson moment. It all worked out and there was no Janet Jackson moment. Mom and I made sure of that! I absolute love Sarah entire photoshoot. She had so much variety and every location with her outfits and style was different. It truly shows her personality. In the back of my mind I kept thinking since I had shot her sister Katie’s senior pictures just a few years ago and wanted to make sure that their galleries were different and unique to them. I purposely choose different locations. One thing that is so neat that even though they had their own sessions that was unique to each of them when they are displayed together in their home they go together beautifuly. That is something that as an artist i’m proud of because I always want my portraits to stand the test of time and not be ……. Trendy.
