Photography is so much more than getting the perfect shot. It’s getting to know each and every senior, making their personalities shine, documenting an important milestone, and best of all, celebrating female beauty.
What inspired me to become a photographer back in 2011? I don’t have many photos from my childhood, so I made it my mission as a mom to document my family’s life in pictures.
BREE! Seems like a lifetime ago we were chasing the sun, then out of nowhere we were trying to beat a thunderstorm. Bree’s Senior photoshoot started out like everyone else. We started in the studio with hair and makeup. I went over her outfits again and finalize locations. Since I do complimentary fashion consultations for our senior’s I had already seen what she was going to wear and had a game plan for locations as well figured out. Sometime though things change, girls bring in a new clothing piece or seen a location of a blooming field and want to go there. I always accommodate. That’s just how we roll at KJP. After hair and makeup was done we were off to our first location! The sun was shinning and everything was looking quite promising. That is until…. we were at the second to last location and it appeared that clouds were rolling in. Our beautiful sun was disappearing. The last location was our location with Bree’s pets! So this was very important to her. And had to happen. We wrapped up that location and headed to the last location because Bree’s mom started to check the weather map and said rain was headed our way. If we weren’t already on a mission we were now. I needed to make everything happen that needed to happen before it rained. My only problem now was you have to be patient with animals! What I envisioned for the last location was to be beautifully sunlight images. That was why I saved this location for last. I saved it for the golden hour. Well we got NO golden hour! I also had to shoot the opposite direction because the sun was gone! Which is always ok! Just a bummer when you had different plans, it can change the look of your photograph. It made me as a photographer be quick on my toes. Bree and her mom still had a wonderful time because I made sure Bree and her mom was still having an amazing senior experience and I was able to capture great images for my client which is always my top priority. My rain shoots always end up being my favorite because they don’t happen to often and because of that I remember them. They don’t get lost in the shuffle and always are so unique. After all I always say in my past life I’m sure I was a storm chaser. I love the outcome of Bree’s senior photoshoot. Her style and personality really shows through her senior photoshoot.

Thank you Katrina! We had a great time during the entire session. Even when the clouds came in, you knew just what to do, and, clouds and all, those shots turned out amazing. Bree’s pictures were all beautiful!!
